Xenos Advance Braid Feeder Rod
Xenos Advance Braid Feeder Rod
If you are looking for a brilliant feeder rod at a great price then check out the Xenos Advance range.
Covering everything from a 3.3m medium action rod, suitable for feeders up to 70 grams, to a 4.2m heavy model that will cast feeders weighing 150 grams, there is a rod in this range for most applications. Made from 40 tonne carbon, all of the rods feel light and exceptionally well balanced, thanks to Browning’s long pedigree in designing high performance feeder rods.
One of the most versatile rods in the range is the 3.6m / 12 foot Braid special. As the name suggests, this rod has been developed specifically for fishing with the fine diameter braided lines, with or without shock leaders, that have become an essential part of modern long-range feeder fishing.
The Xenos Advance Braid Feeder has been designed with a slightly softer action in the middle and tip that gives a progressive build up of power on the cast and strike. This makes long-range casting with zero-stretch braided lines easier, and helps to eliminate hook-pulls when catching soft-mouthed fish.
With reserves of power in the butt section the Braid Feeder will handle loaded cage feeders up to 50 grams, making it ideal for stillwaters and slow-flowing rivers where accurate fishing with light lines and small hooks are often the order of the day. Supplied with three tips, 0.5oz, 1oz, 1.5oz, this is the perfect bream and silverfish rod. Tips have a standard 3mm diameter, making them compatible across the range.
Like all of the Xenos Advance range, the Braid Feeder has a stunning epoxy finish, with gold details. The genuine cork handle is comfortable and hard-wearing, with a positive EVA lower grip embossed with the browning logo.
If you want to take your feeder fishing to the next level then check out the Xenos Advance range.

The Xenos Advance rods have a modern twist on a classic epoxy finish with gold trimmings.

The minimal rings help save weight and are braid and mono friendly.

Quality fittings are used throughout the Xenos Advance rod range.

Quiver tips are interchangeable between all of the Xenos rods, thanks to their 3mm diameter.
Sphere Beast Hooks
Sphere Beast Hooks
The Sphere range of hooks is growing all the time and the Beast range is certainly getting a following. Available loose in packs of 15, the barbless version comes eyed with a choice of eyed or spade end and they really do everything asked on them when it comes to big fish commercials. The barbed variety is spade end only yet both come in a sizes ranging from 8 to 16 including an in between size 13!
Probably the most stand out feature of these hooks is not just how sharp the point is but they just don’t seem to blunt! Made from high-performance Japanese steel they are Teflon coated which guarantees easy penetration, creating great hook holds and almost eliminates hook pulls. The shape of the hook is described as straight with a wide gape and in-turned point and the reason they are called Beast is because they are extremely strong yet far from as heavy as you would expect making them a big hit with barbel anglers.
The Beast barbed hooks are also available on a unique winder system. Each spool contains eight hooks, again ranging between 8 and 16, which are tied to high performance monofilament and are on a continuous loop which eliminates tangles as only one can be removed at a time. Each spool has a protective folding rim which eliminates the problem of any line spilling off, it also protects the line from damaging UV light and on the rear of the spool are locating positions for the next hook.
I started using these hooks when they were first launched and haven’t looked back since.
John Pantrey

Sphere Beast hooks are available I both barbed and barbless, eyed and spade-end, covering lots of big fish work.

The unique packaging of the Sphere hooks stops the rigs from tangling and keeps them in perfect condition.
CK Method Feeder Rod
CK Method Feeder Rod
Many of the venues I fish have carp that just seem to be getting bigger and bigger and I needed a rod that was capable of taming these, especially when fishing the feeder and straight bomb. The CK 11’ Method Feeder Rod fitted the bill perfectly as it not only combined sensitivity with power it also gave me a rod that was extremely balanced and versatile.
A couple of my favourite features are – it’s a two piece rod which means it can be easily transported made up and instantly ready to go when I get to the fishery and being so versatile it can be used for all types of feeder and straight bomb work. Created with some extra weight and casting power it’s great when fishing for big fish at range, but I’ve found it’s equally as good when sensitivity is needed close in.
It has a lovely balanced feel with a stepped-up-action, great for taming big fish, or casting feeders a long way, yet the tip is forgiving enough to reduce hook pulls under the rod tip. It’s also extremely slim, has ultra low friction guides throughout, a keeper ring and the contoured handle sits perfectly along my forearm when playing a fish as well as being supplied with 1oz and 2oz tips.
If double-figure carp are giving you the run-around then it is time you got yourself a CK Method Feeder Rod.

Low-profile braid-friendly rings are fitted to all of the CK rod range.

The CK Method Feeder rod is ideal for venues where the carp run big!

CK (Carp King) range of rods offer great value for money and ‘do what they say on the tin’ – covering a wide range of modern commercial carp fishing tactics without breaking the bank.

Sphere 11ft Light Feeder Rod
Sphere 11ft Light Feeder Rod
The Sphere 11ft Light Feeder Rod is ideal for my style of fishing, especially on the local park lakes and commercials where skimmers and bream dominate catches.
Probably the most impressive part of this rod is its ultra slim and ultra light, weighing in at just 149g! Created from the highest quality carbon blank available this rod is as close to perfection as it comes and simply oozes quality throughout from the ultra low friction “Skeletal” SIC guides to the Fuji reel seat. The unique ergonomic weight reducing handle has been designed to follow the contours of your arm, hand and fingers when playing a fish or casting, transmits more feel throughout and the quality of the blank adds metres and accuracy to each and every cast made. The responsive blank reduces the chance of hook-pulls under the rod tip, especially from soft mouthed fish such as skimmers, yet it still has loads of power in the middle reaches to subdue bigger fish such as carp that will undoubtedly get hooked from time to time.
Supplied with four tips, 0.75oz, 1oz, 1.5oz and 2oz makes this rod extremely versatile and being a two-section rod means it can be transported rigged up and ready to go.
Take a look at the Sphere range of rods and if possible give one a go, you won’t be disappointed.

The specially designed ergonomic handle on the sphere rods gives extra grip which helps with casting accuracy.

The SiC Minima rings are extremely lightweight and strong. They are suitable for both braided and mono lines.

The casting and playing actions on the Sphere feeder rods are faultless, making accurate casting easier and meaning less lost fish.

The Sphere Feeder rods cover the full gamut of my feeder fishing. For silverfish the Sphere L feeder is absolutely superb.

Every aspect of the Sphere rods has been considered. Even the reel seats are especially designed for comfort and extra security.

Sphere Feeder Ultra Lite Hooks
Sphere Feeder Ultra Lite Hooks
The Sphere Feeder Ultra Lite hooks have been a bit of a revelation for my silverfish fishing. These must rank as one of the sharpest hooks that I have ever used, they penetrate so easily and keep their points so well that they are ideal for situations when you are expecting plenty of bites.
The fine wire gauge also means that they are a very light hook, making them perfect for small baits, such as maggots and pinkies, yet they have plenty of strength to help you land bonus fish that can make all the difference to your weight at the end of the day.
This is a barbed hook and this, coupled with the swept shank design means that you will lose less fish on the retrieve, especially when feeder fishing. Small roach, which can have a tendency to come off as you reel them in on many hooks, stay on these much more effectively.
The Sphere Feeder Ultra Lite hooks have a nice black nickel finish and come in sizes between 8 and 18. The packets of 15 hooks are also great value too. For silverfish this is a brilliant hook, not just for feeder fishing, but on the pole and running line too.

Sphere Bomb +10% Power
I get asked a lot about rod choice when fishing for winter carp and F1’s and when it comes to bomb and feeder fishing then you can’t beat the awesome Sphere Bomb +10% Power.
For ranges up to about 40m – common fishing on most commercials, then these rods are an absolute must. Casting extremely accurately, yet telegraphing even the slightest bite or liner.
I tend to use them with a 20 gram inline bomb, or small feeder, which loads them brilliantly for accurate casting. The weight is also sufficient to prick any fish that picks up the bait, even when the fish are quite lethargic.
You might think that such a light rod would not be suitable for larger carp, but nothing could be further from the truth. The brilliant parabolic action of the Sphere Bomb +10% Power enables me to play big carp hard without the risk of hook-pulls. Landing fish quickly and, crucially, giving me extra fishing time.
Just look at the pictures and you will see how forgiving this rod is, the action is brilliant and I can land carp faster than ever before. The glass tips blend perfectly into the blank, magnifying even shy F1 bites.
Over the winter I am fishing the Bomb and Feeder League at Lindholme Lakes, and for most matches that means having just two rods set up. Both are the Sphere Bomb +10% Power. The first with a straight bomb for popped-up bread or corn. The second carrying a small Hybrid feeder loaded with micros.
If you are looking for the very best tools for these jobs then check out the Bomb +10%.

How to Fish the Method Feeder for Carp
How to Fish the Method Feeder for Carp
The Method-Feeder has dominated match fishing on many venues over the past few years. Today I am fishing the Match Lake at Blind Lane Fisheries in Essex where the huge population of carp really respond to this method.
Conditions are far from perfect so I’ve chosen my swim carefully, one that has plenty of cover on the island, an area I’m sure the carp will head too once the sun gets up. I’m also tackling this venue with a different bait, something you probably haven’t heard of or used before but one that’s bought me great success recently. All will be revealed later.
Tackle for the day consists of one of my favourite rods, the beautifully balance 10’ Sphere Bomb, however as I’m fishing clipped up right next to the snags and can’t give these fish an inch have opted for the slightly more powerful +10% version. This has been complimented with the silky smooth Sphere MgTi 920, the smallest of four in this range, which is loaded with Cenex 0.16mm Feeder Mono. This mainline is a medium-stretch sinking line so bites are registered far quicker than standard monofilaments and the lack of stretch stops fish getting within the unforgiving snags on the far bank. On the business end I’m using a 30g Hydrus Metal Method Feeder which I set up so its semi fixed creating a bolt effect along with a four-inch hooklink made from Cenex 0.16mm Hybrid Power Mono which has a size 16 barbless Sphere Beast tied knotless-knot style with a hair containing a Silicone Pellet Band.
Onto bait, one that’s very versatile, cheap and will catch you loads of fish wherever you take it. What is it, corn pellets? These can be bought in bulk from any animal feed outlet and all I do is place a small piece within the bait band. This bait is really light so a fish can really suck it in easily and it’s something they haven’t seen before and believe me it will catch you loads of fish. For the feeder mix what I do is create a 50/50 mix of finely ground corn pellets and Champion’s Choice Big Fish Groundbait. Together these create a light fluffy mix, great for the method feeder and oozing out a lovely irresistible sweet smelling flavour of corn, almond, vanilla and marzipan!

The Sphere Bomb +10% Power rod is ideal for light Method feeder fishing on commercial fisheries.

Use the line clip on your reel to cast accurately every time. This is especially useful when fishing tight to far bank cover.

Always use a strong, abrasion resistant line when Method Feeder fishing. Cenex Feeder mono is ideal.
"Corn pellets are a versatile and cheap bait that carp love."

Cenex Hybrid Mono is perfect for hookengths, being clear in colour and with a very high strength for its diameter.

The Sphere Beast hooks are the best carp hooks I have ever used. Not only are they very strong for the wire thickness, but they are incredibly sharp too. Be sure to check them out.

Bait Bands make changing the hard pellet hookbait very easy.
The session has gone to plan and as expected the bright conditions have seen many of the carp heading for the shade of the snags. Other anglers around fishing into open water are struggling, yet by continuously casting to the same spot I’ve tempted a nice net of carp and F1’s. The tackle I’ve used is balanced, yet robust and strong enough to stop everyone getting into the snags, so all in all a great mornings fishing showing that if you choose the right swim, use appropriate tackle and a bait they just can’t refuse, even on the toughest days, great sort can be had.

Sphere Feeder MH 390 fishing rod!
The Sphere 13ft Medium Heavy Feeder Rod is ideal for my style of fishing, especially on the larger stillwaters and wider rivers where casting further is often needed, bream dominate, massive weights are possible and heavier feeders and thicker lines are required.
Probably the most impressive part of this rod is its ultra slim and ultra light, weighing in at just 210g! Created from the highest quality carbon blank available this rod is as close to perfection as it comes and simply oozes quality throughout from the ultra low friction “Skeletal” SIC guides to the Fuji reel seat.
