Sphere Beast Hooks

Sphere Beast Hooks - Setting the standard in big fish hooks.

The awesome Sphere Beast hooks are available in three different versions, to cover the majority of your big carp and barbel rigs. Designed to cope with the demands of landing big fish without drama, the custom design and Japanese high-tensile steel enable the wire gauge to be impressively thin for such a strong hook. With needle-sharp points, which retain their points longer, these are exceptional hooks for both pole and feeder work for big fish.

Choose between barbless Sphere Beast hooks in both eyed and spade-end versions, for commercial fisheries, or the spade-end only barbed version that is ideal for river feeder and float work for barbel and big chub.

Sphere Beast hooks are available in sizes 8 to 16, including a useful size 13 for medium-sized baits, such as pellets.

The Sphere Hook Range

The Sphere Hook Range

If you’re not aware of the Browning Sphere range of hooks then you really need to as soon as possible.

All eventualities covered

The range consists of six superb hooks that have been developed by some of the top feeder and match specialists to bring to you a hook that will cover every angling situation. My top two have to be the Beast and the Match as I tend to fish carp dominated commercials but if you prefer to fish for silver, feeder fish for bream, even spend most of your time on more natural venues then the Ultra Lite, Ultra Strong, Classic or CPF LS will have its place.

As its name suggest, well almost!

The Beast is everything it says, a hook that you can rely on when putting a big weight of hard fighting carp together, keeping its point and not bending out so one that will seriously save you time when needed. The barbless range comes with the option of eyed or spade end in sizes from 8 right through to a 16 with a popular size 13 as well. The barbed range is spade end only and comes in the same sizes 8 – 16. Made from black nickel it’s amazingly strong, yet it’s not made from a heavy gauge hook so has some finesse as well. It has the popular slight in-turned beaked point which is super sharp and once in, it’s not coming out! A great hook for pellet fishing and in these days when pennies are getting tighter they are amazing value for money and come in packets containing 15!

The all-rounder

The Match variety is another of my favourites, especially when feeder fishing for carp as it’s amazingly light in weight but super strong. The razor sharp hook point is longer than the beast ensuring a secure hook hold and reducing the chance of a hook pull when fishing at distance. It really is an all-rounder, a robust reliable hook that all pole, float, feeder anglers need to check out! Available in sizes 8 to 18, spade end and barbed only and once again in packets of 15!

Both the Beast and the Match are also available as pre-tied hooks to high quality monofilament on an innovative winder. Eight hook lengths on each winder so great for anglers that prefer ready tied hook lengths.

Sphere Beast Hooks

Sphere Beast Hooks

The Sphere range of hooks is growing all the time and the Beast range is certainly getting a following. Available loose in packs of 15, the barbless version comes eyed with a choice of eyed or spade end and they really do everything asked on them when it comes to big fish commercials. The barbed variety is spade end only yet both come in a sizes ranging from 8 to 16 including an in between size 13!

Probably the most stand out feature of these hooks is not just how sharp the point is but they just don’t seem to blunt! Made from high-performance Japanese steel they are Teflon coated which guarantees easy penetration, creating great hook holds and almost eliminates hook pulls. The shape of the hook is described as straight with a wide gape and in-turned point and the reason they are called Beast is because they are extremely strong yet far from as heavy as you would expect making them a big hit with barbel anglers.

The Beast barbed hooks are also available on a unique winder system. Each spool contains eight hooks, again ranging between 8 and 16, which are tied to high performance monofilament and are on a continuous loop which eliminates tangles as only one can be removed at a time. Each spool has a protective folding rim which eliminates the problem of any line spilling off, it also protects the line from damaging UV light and on the rear of the spool are locating positions for the next hook.

I started using these hooks when they were first launched and haven’t looked back since.

Sphere Beast Hooks

Sphere Beast Hooks

Hooks are a very personal choice, but if you are looking for a design specifically made for carp and other big, powerful fish then check out the Sphere Beast hooks.

The strength of these hooks takes some beating. They are heavily forged and quite light, yet they are incredibly strong and dependable. In the cooler months don’t be afraid of scaling down to a 16, especially useful when using popped-up bread, where a light hook helps the bait stay buoyant.

The dull teflon finish not only makes the hooks less visible, but also means that they penetrate easier and further than normal plated hooks. This is especially useful when using bolt rigs with the Method feeder, or straight bomb in the winter months, when the fish are not going to tear off with the bait.

The in-turned point of this hook pattern definitely ensures that these hooks stay put, but look more carefully an you will notice that the point is also forged to give a flat chisel-shape that not only makes these hooks super-sharp, but ensures they keep their point really well too.

The eyes on these hooks are really well formed, close-up inspection shows that the eyes are fully closed – essential when hair-rigging to stop the line becoming trapped in the eye and eventually breaking unexpectedly. A spade-end version is also available, and being a barbed hook it is ideal for river anglers after chub and barbel.

Whether you are after carp on the pole, fishing the Method of feeder fishing for big barbel, the Sphere Beast hooks can handle it all and can make a significant difference to your fishing.

Available in sizes between 8 and 16 in both eyed and spade-end versions.

The shape of the Sphere Beast makes it ideal for hair-rigging as well as pole fishing with pellets and bread with the spade-end version.

The forging on the hook gives it maximum strength. It retains its point brilliantly, thanks to the long swept, ‘chisel-shaped’ design.

Sphere Match Hooks to Nylon

If like myself you prefer to use ready tied hook lengths and are looking for a true all-round hook that is equally at home when float or feeder fishing then you really need to try the Sphere Match Hooks to Nylon.

I first started using this when feeder fishing, but my faith in it has grown, and I now use it almost all the time, whether I’m feeder, pole, waggler or trotting a river for silvers.

What I love about these hooks to nylon is the unique winder concept which stores each and every hook length securely. The retaining spool has a silicone surface and a folding protective lip, safely enclosing all of the ready tied hooks and protecting your leaders against damaging UV light or being damaged in transit within your tackle trays.

No more frustrating unwinding either as these are on a continuous loop and safely contained on the easy, no spill access spool. To release each hook length simply remove the first hook from its retaining slot and unwind until the next hook is revealed. Remove the first hook length and then place the next hook into the nearest retaining slot on the back of the spool, before letting the lip of the spool relocate tightly to the spool.

Each spool contains eight black nickel ultra sharp barbed hooks pre-tied on 100cm hook lengths. Hook sizes range between a size 18, which is attached to a 0.10mm (2.2lb) high performance monofilament, to an 8 which is attached to 0.18mm (6.9lb).

Spade end loose hooks are also available in packets of 15 for those who prefer to tie their own hook lengths.

A true all-rounder and one I would highly recommend.

sphere feeder ultra lite hooks 1

Sphere Feeder Ultra Lite Hooks

Sphere Feeder Ultra Lite Hooks

The Sphere Feeder Ultra Lite hooks have been a bit of a revelation for my silverfish fishing. These must rank as one of the sharpest hooks that I have ever used, they penetrate so easily and keep their points so well that they are ideal for situations when you are expecting plenty of bites.

The fine wire gauge also means that they are a very light hook, making them perfect for small baits, such as maggots and pinkies, yet they have plenty of strength to help you land bonus fish that can make all the difference to your weight at the end of the day.

This is a barbed hook and this, coupled with the swept shank design means that you will lose less fish on the retrieve, especially when feeder fishing. Small roach, which can have a tendency to come off as you reel them in on many hooks, stay on these much more effectively.

The Sphere Feeder Ultra Lite hooks have a nice black nickel finish and come in sizes between 8 and 18. The packets of 15 hooks are also great value too. For silverfish this is a brilliant hook, not just for feeder fishing, but on the pole and running line too.

Sphere Match Hooks To Nylon

Sphere Match Hooks To Nylon

I find tying lots of hooklengths and real pain, so whenever I can I will use hooks to nylon in my fishing to do away with this chore. A pattern that I use a lot in the winter months, especially when fishing rivers such as the Wye and Severn is the Sphere Match Hooks to Nylon.

The Sphere Match is a medium strength hook, making it ideal for maggot fishing. The wire gauge is fine enough for baits like maggots, but with enough strength to land bonus fish without me having to worry.

The shape is ideal for maggot and caster fishing. On the river Wye I tend to use this pattern in a size 12 or 14, tied to 0.14mm line.

All Sphere Hooks to Nylon are supplied tied to one metre of line, allowing you to cut them to length and making them suitable for both float, pole and feeder fishing.

The unique retainer enables the hooks to nylon to be removed individually and protects the stored rigs away from UV light and dirt that can damage nylon.

A great product, and if you find tying hooklengths a chore, these are a great quality product that I am happy to use in my match fishing.

Sphere Ultra Strong Hooks

Sphere Ultra Strong Hooks

When big, strong bonus fish are on the cards I reach for the Sphere Ultra Strong hooks. These spade-end hooks are the same shape as the Ultra Lite pattern that I use a lot in my feeder fishing, but in a stronger wire gauge. This makes them ideal for feeder fishing for big fish, with bigger, heavier baits. On the river Trent they are ideal, because you never know when a barbel, or big chub will put in an appearance. So if I am feeder fishing for bream on the river this will be my hook of choice.

Try it for the Flat Float

The Sphere Ultra Strong hooks are also ideal for fishing the flat float with bits of worm for perch when the river is carrying some extra water. Once again, you need a strong hook, but one that is balanced to the gear and baits used, and this fits the bill perfectly.

For those demanding situations when you need a strong, yet light, hook, this is the one.
